Euro Nymphing Trips

Euro nymphing is an incredibly effective technique on a river as large and powerful as the Deschutes, as it allows for precise depth control and superior strike detection in heavy currents. Because these this can be intimidating, I will guide you through the entire system, from tying your own specialized leaders to selecting the specific styles of flies that produce results here. We will also focus on technical casting and line management, ensuring you have the skills to maintain a natural drift and reach fish in pockets that traditional indicator rigs might miss.

Spey Trips

Whether you are looking to master the elegant trout spey technique or step up to the challenge of summer steelhead, I provide comprehensive on-water training to help you find success. My sessions cover the essential mechanics of casting instruction, ensuring you can deliver consistent loops with efficiency and ease. We’ll dive deep into reading swing water, teaching you how to identify the specific seams and tailouts where fish hold. Additionally, you’ll gain a clear understanding of line systems—specifically when to utilize Scandinavian (Scandi) setups for surface presentations versus Skagit heads and sink tips for getting deep in heavy flow. These trips are designed to demystify the gear and the water, giving you the confidence to swing flies effectively on any river.
